Foley, Rothberg Return to SRO to Defend Title

Turner Motorsport heads to Sonoma, Calif., for the season opener of SRO’s GT World Challenge America and GT America. Robby Foley and Justin Rothberg will return to defend their Pro-Am title in World Challenge, while Rothberg will again chase the championship in GT America.

Last season, the Turner BMW won races at Sebring International Raceway and Road America, with seven podium finishes. The World Challenge title came down to the final race of the season at the 8 Hours of Indianapolis at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Coming into the weekend second in points, the team had points to make up, but luck was on their side. After a flawless eight hours, Foley, Rothberg and endurance addition Patrick Gallagher came in second in pro-am to secure Turner Motorsport’s 10th championship in history. Rothberg also took home Rookie of the Year honors. The team returns in 2025 hoping to pick up where 2024 left off.

In GT America, Rothberg had an impressive showing in his first season with four wins and five podium finishes that included a sweep of the final weekend of the season at Indianapolis winning both races from pole. The 23-year-old earned second place in the SRO3 championship, falling short of the title by just one point – an impressive feat for a rookie among many veteran drivers.

“It’s great to be returning as defending GT World Challenge champions. It by no means was an easy feat to achieve last year, but I think it may be even tougher this year due to the increased competition,” says team owner Will Turner. “Justin should be in a great place going into his second season having a year of GT3 under his belt."

In 2025, both GTWC and GTA cars will be BMW M4 GT3 EVOs with LATICRETE as the primary season partner and Valhalla Boatworks, LiquiMoly and H&R Special Springs as associate sponsors. Also joining the program this year is Cabot Guns. Foley continues to be an integral part of Turner Motorsport serving as a driver coach to help develop young drivers across all Turner programs, including Rothberg.

“I’m really looking forward to another season with Justin in our LATICRETE BMWs. We have all the same characters in place, but equally some new excitement with the brand new M4 GT3 ECOs and a new partner in Cabot to welcome,” says Foley. “Coming back as defending champions certainly has some added pressure, but I’m really looking forward to Justin’s sophomore season. He now knows what he didn’t know ahead of last season, and we can now focus on the fine details that will take his driving to the next level. We both love Sonoma Raceway, so I can’t wait to head back to Wine Country and get the season going.”

The SRO season officially kicks off in Sonoma, Calif. on March 28-30 at Sonoma Raceway. GTWC and GTA races will stream live on GT World’s YouTube channel and on MAVTV Go with a watch along on SRO Motorsports’ Twitch.
